Section 5: Traffic Pattern Changes for Red Tail Boulevard at C.R. 46A

October 3, 2019

Sorrento, Fla. – Traffic entering and exiting the Red Tail community will follow a new pattern beginning Friday night, Oct. 4, as crews work to finish the permanent intersection of County Road (C.R.) 46A and Red Tail Boulevard. Traffic entering and exiting Red Tail will use the new connection to the recently realigned C.R. 46A. This traffic shift is necessary so that crews can remove and replace pavement to a new elevation.

Electronic message boards have been posted. Please be advised that weather or other unexpected conditions could delay or prolong work.

Wekiva Parkway Section 5, one of the Florida Department of Transportation’s non-tolled road projects, on June 5, 2017 began relocating part of C.R. 46A out of the Seminole State Forest. This $9.9 million project is intended to improve connectivity between wildlife habitats and reduce the risk of collisions between vehicles and wildlife.

The project realigns C.R. 46A for 2.5 miles from north of Arundel Way to S.R. 429 east of Camp Challenge Road. Work has included building a multi-use trail along the S.R. 46 portion of the project, and a new signalized, T-intersection at C.R. 46A and S.R. 46. Work is expected to finish by late 2019.

FDOT urges all drivers to stay alert and use caution while driving through or near construction zones. When driving, walking, or bicycling, remember to pay attention and follow the rules. Safety doesn’t happen by accident.
