Section 5: Old C.R. 46A/Droty Spring Lane to Temporarily Close

November 15, 2019

Sorrento, Fla. – Crews are scheduled to close old County Road (C.R.) 46A/Droty Spring Lane at the new C.R. 46A from Saturday, Nov. 16, at 7 a.m., through Sunday, Nov. 17, at 5 p.m. The temporary closure is required so crews can rebuild the intersection.

Local property access will be via new C.R. 46A to State Road (S.R.) 46 to old C.R. 46A/Sleepy Bear Lane. Thru traffic will use the recently opened new C.R. 46A to access S.R. 46.

Electronic message boards have been posted. Please be advised that weather or other unexpected conditions could delay or prolong work.

Wekiva Parkway Section 5, one of the Florida Department of Transportation’s non-tolled road projects, relocated a portion of C.R. 46A away from the Seminole State Forest. This $9.9 million project is intended to improve connectivity between wildlife habitats and reduce the risk of collisions between vehicles and wildlife. Work began on this section on June 5, 2017. The realignment of C.R. 46A opened to traffic on October 31, 2019. The remaining work is expected to finish by late 2019.

FDOT urges all drivers to stay alert and use caution while driving through or near construction zones. When driving, walking, or bicycling, remember to pay attention and follow the rules. Safety doesn’t happen by accident.
