Section 7A: S.R. 46 Crane Move Requires Intermittent Daytime Lane Closures

August 17, 2019

Sanford, Fla. - Crews are scheduled Monday, Aug. 19, to conduct brief lane closures on State Road (S.R.) 46 to move a crane from Glade View Drive to Orange Boulevard as part of building the Wekiva Parkway. S.R. 46 traffic will alternate intermittently through one lane from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. for crews to safely move the crane.

Crews will also use the work zone on Wayside Drive as part of the crane move. This will require a brief lane closure for residents of Capri Cove and South Orange Avenue.

Flaggers will direct traffic. Emergency vehicle traffic will be maintained. Please note construction schedules may change due to weather or other circumstances.

The work is being conducted as part of building Wekiva Parkway Section 7A. Work on this stretch along S.R. 46 from Longwood-Markham Road to Orange Boulevard began April 1, 2018, and is scheduled to finish in 2022.

FDOT urges all drivers to stay alert and use caution while driving through or near construction zones. When driving, walking, or bicycling, remember to pay attention and follow the rules. Safety doesn’t happen by accident.
