CFX Section 2: Pre-Construction Community Open House Scheduled

September 2015

(APOPKA, FL) – The Central Florida Expressway Authority will hold a pre-construction community open house for the second section of the Wekiva Parkway (State Road 429), to be located north of Kelly Park Road between Round Lake Road and Mt. Plymouth Road (County Road 435). The three projects (map sections 2A, 2B and 2C), totaling 5 miles, will feature all electronic tolling and a multi-level, systems interchange northwest of Haas Road-Ondich Road and Plymouth Sorrento Road. Construction on these projects, estimated at a total cost of $218 million, is scheduled to begin in 2016 and finish by early 2018.

The meeting will be held in an open-house format on Thursday, September 24, 2015, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Northwest Orange County Improvement Association (N.O.C.I.A.) Building at 4253 W. Ponkan Road, Apopka, FL 32712. The public may review maps, drawings and other pertinent information about the latest design plans for these projects. Members of the project teams will be available to answer questions.

Because roads don’t stop at county lines, the regional Central Florida Expressway Authority’s jurisdiction includes Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole Counties. CFX is responsible for the construction, maintenance and operation of a 109-mile limited-access expressway system. It may also acquire, construct and equip rapid transit, trams and fixed guideways within its rights-of-way. CFX’s system includes SR 408 (Spessard Holland East-West Expressway), SR 528 (Martin Andersen Beachline Expressway), SR 417 (Central Florida GreeneWay), SR 429 (Daniel Webster Western Beltway), SR 414 (John Land Apopka Expressway) and State Road 451.
