Construction on the Wekiva Parkway is being done in sections by the Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). FDOT began work on the first sections – 4A and 4B – on Feb. 18, 2013. These two design-build sections extend from Mount Plymouth Road (County Road 435) north of Haas Road in Orange County, to State Road 46 east of Camp Challenge Road in Lake County. Work on this section is scheduled to finish in early 2016.

CFX on June 8, 2015 began construction Section 1A, and is slated to start work on Section 1B on August 3, 2015. Work on this portion from near US 441 and Plymouth Sorrento Road to near Ponkan Road is scheduled to finish in spring of 2017.
