CFX Section 2C: Nighttime Lane Closure Scheduled for SR 46

(SORRENTO, FL) - Crews building part of the Wekiva Parkway (State Road 429) are scheduled tonight, March 15, to close the westbound lane on State Road 46 just east of Round Lake Road. The closure is scheduled from 8 p.m. - 5 a.m.

 

The contractor, GLF Construction Corporation, will be installing temporary barrier wall along the westbound lane. During the lane closure, flaggers will alternate traffic in both directions through one lane. Electronic message boards are posted to alert drivers.

 

Bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances could delay or prolong work. Motorists are urged to use caution in the construction area for their safety and that of the work crews.

 

The Central Florida Expressway Authority began construction May 2, 2016 on Wekiva Parkway Section 2C. This $49.48 million section stretches from the Lake County-Orange County line to a loop interchange at SR 46 east of Round Lake Road. This section is slated to open to traffic in spring of 2018.

 

This project is among five parkway sections being built by CFX, totaling 10 miles and more than $270 million in construction costs. Once completed, the 25-mile parkway will complete Central Florida’s beltway, while helping to protect the natural resources surrounding the Wekiva River. 

CFX Section 2C: Nighttime Traffic Shift Scheduled for SR 46

(SORRENTO, FL) - Crews building part of the Wekiva Parkway (State Road 429) are scheduled Wednesday and Thursday nights, March 8 and 9, to shift traffic on State Road 46 just east of Round Lake Road. Work, including placing barrier wall, is scheduled from 9 p.m. - 5 a.m.

 

On Wednesday night, traffic will move toward the south side of SR 46. This will allow crews to work on the north side of the roadway.

 

During the shift and barrier wall work, flaggers will alternate traffic in both directions through one lane. Electronic message boards are posted to alert drivers.

 

Bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances could delay or prolong work. Motorists are urged to use caution in the construction area for their safety and that of the work crews.

FDOT Sections 3A/3B - RK&K Selected to Oversee Construction

March 2017

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has selected RK&K, also known as Rummel, Klepper & Kahl, to oversee the construction of Wekiva Parkway Sections 3A & 3B in Mount Dora. The construction engineering and inspection firm will make sure the project is built according to plans, and stays on time and on budget.

 

Sections 3A & 3B involve non-tolled road improvements stretching along State Road 46 from just west of U.S. 441 to east of Round Lake Road. Construction is expected to begin in the late summer – fall of 2017.

FDOT Section 5 - Apparent Low Bidder Determined

February 2017

The Florida Department of Transportation has received and opened bids from contractors hoping to build Wekiva Parkway Section 5. Halifax Paving is the apparent low bidder on the non-tolled segment. The firm submitted a cost of $9.88 million to realign County Road 46A out of the Seminole State Forest to reduce collisions between vehicles and wildlife. Work is scheduled to begin this summer.

(APOPKA, FL) – On Wednesday, Feb. 15, crews will intermittently close one northbound left turn lane on State Road 429 (Daniel Webster Western Beltway) at Connector Road. Also, crews will intermittently close one westbound lane on Connector Road near US 441. The lane closures between 8 -9 p.m. will allow crews to conduct overhead bridge work as part of building the Wekiva Parkway.

(APOPKA, FL) – On Thursday, February 9, crews will close Kelly Park Road between Round Lake Road and Plymouth Sorrento Road as part of building the Wekiva Parkway (State Road 429). The closure from 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. will allow crews to finish painting bridge beams over Kelly Park Road.

Traffic will be detoured via Round Lake Road, Ponkan Road and Plymouth Sorrento Road during the closure. Flaggers will direct traffic and electronic message boards are posted to alert drivers.

FDOT Section 4: Lane Closure Scheduled for Wekiva Parkway

January 2017

Lake County – On Monday, Jan. 23, crews will close the northbound outside lane on the Wekiva Parkway (State Road 429) from half a mile north of the Orange County/Lake County line to about a mile south of State Road (S.R.) 46. The lane closure, from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m., will allow crews to perform fiberoptic work on an ongoing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) project.

 

Bad weather or other unforeseen circumstances could delay or prolong work. Motorists are urged to use caution in the area for their safety and that of the work crews.

 

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) opened Section 4 of the Wekiva Parkway on Jan. 20, 2016. It includes 3.14 miles of limited access toll road from County Road 435/Mount Plymouth Road, north across the Lake County Line/Orange County line, northeast to west of Old McDonald Road and ending in an interchange at S.R. 46.

The lane closures will occur daily as needed between 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. for bridge work.

(APOPKA, FL) – On Friday, December 16, crews are scheduled to close the northbound lane of Plymouth Sorrento Road just north of Haas Road-Ondich Road as building part of the Wekiva Parkway (State Road 429). The lane closure is scheduled from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. to allow bridge work and other work.
