Section 3: S.R. 46 Traffic to Split in Mount Dora

March 9, 2020
Crews are scheduled the nights of Tuesday, Mar. 10, and Wednesday, Mar. 11, to shift traffic on State Road (S.R.) 46 between Round Lake Road and U.S. 441 in Mount Dora as part of building the Wekiva Parkway (S.R. 429).

Eastbound and westbound traffic in this area will be split by a new median. Traffic will initially remain on a single thru lane in each direction until the remainder of the new lanes are opened later this year.

As part of the extensive safety and mobility improvements to the roadway, traffic will now need to use certain median crossovers or directional openings to make left turns. For driveways or roads that do not have their own opening, motorists will need to make a U-turn at the next available location.

Additional enhancements will be opened to the public as part of this traffic shift. Crews are scheduled to open new turn lanes to S.R. 46 from Round Lake Road which are expected to reduce traffic backups for motorists at this signalized intersection.

Other improvements planned for this project in 2020 include the opening of the additional eastbound and westbound travel lanes on S.R. 46, the completion of the flyover bridge from U.S. 441 southbound to S.R. 46 eastbound, and the opening of new sidewalks on each side of S.R. 46.
